Aiying reported that the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission warned the public to beware of suspicious websites impersonating licensed virtual asset trading platforms HashKey and OSL. The one impersonating Hash Blockchain Limited is called HSKEX, and the ones impersonating OSL Digital Securities Limited include "osleu" and "oslint".
After receiving reports from victims about difficulties in withdrawing funds, the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission listed the above-mentioned website on the Securities and Futures Commission's warning list of suspicious virtual asset trading platforms on March 2024, 3. The victims also stated that they were asked to pay high "handling fees and taxes" to withdraw funds from the relevant website.
The Hong Kong Police Force has taken action to block the relevant website at the request of the SFC.
The SFC calls on the public to use the SFC's public register of licensees and registered institutions and the list of licensed virtual asset trading platforms to check the latest information of licensed entities, including their official websites. Investors should not transfer money or conduct any transactions before verifying the identity of the other party.
