HashKey Capital and FTSE Russell (a brand of the London Stock Exchange Group) jointly launched a series of digital asset indices to facilitate investors to understand the data changes in the digital asset market in real time. These indices are specially designed for investors who are committed to seizing the growth opportunities of cryptocurrencies to meet their diverse investment needs.
The cooperation between HashKey Capital and FTSE Russell is to combine HashKey Capital's expertise in the cryptocurrency industry with FTSE Russell's outstanding capabilities in index management, compilation, and risk control to meet the institutional needs for the investability and regulatory integrity of this new asset class, and provide a reference standard for asset transactions and trading platforms.
The three indices are:
FTSE Russell Digital Asset 20 Index: Tracks the top 20 crypto assets by market capitalization. Currently, this index accurately reflects at least 90% of the overall performance of the digital asset market, providing traders with a more diversified reference benchmark for the digital asset market.
FTSE Russell Digital Asset Infrastructure Index: Tracks digital assets that form the infrastructure layer of the crypto ecosystem. Its targets generally include smart contract platforms, protocol interoperability, and distributed computing and storage.
FTSE Russell Digital Asset Application Index: Tracks application-layer digital assets in the digital asset ecosystem. Such assets are often associated with staking tools and DeFi (decentralized finance).
The uniqueness of these indices lies in their clear coverage of niche tracks: traders can track not only a single asset, but also a comprehensive portfolio of assets in a series of niche digital asset tracks. With professional and diversified cutting-edge perspectives, traders will keep up with the daily performance of the digital asset market while maintaining a comprehensive understanding of long-term trends.
Mr. Deng Chao, Managing Director of HashKey Capital, said that the launch of the new index marks a turning point in the digital asset market: "We have witnessed a surge in demand for diversified portfolios among investors, and the vast majority of institutions are also paying attention to new growth opportunities beyond mainstream cryptocurrencies. The new index we launched with FTSE Russell aims to actively meet customer needs and provide innovative digital asset management solutions to help customers gain a deeper understanding of and effectively respond to the diversity and complexity of this rapidly developing asset class."
From January 1, these indices will be available for query on the official website of FTSE Russell, and are planned to be open to the public through mainstream data service platforms such as Bloomberg, Factset, London Stock Exchange Data and Analysis, Morningstar and S&P Capital IQ in the future.
Chris Williamson, Head of Asia Pacific Index at FTSE Russell, said of the collaboration with HashKey Capital: “We are excited to work with HashKey Capital to develop these new custom indices. These indices follow our rigorous index compilation and risk control processes and are designed to provide data standards for asset trading and exchanges to meet the institutional demand for investability and regulatory integrity in new asset classes.”
